Why?

The 100 Heroes Challenge is asking 100 people to raise £1000 each in whichever way they want. Here's how your money could help this vital service in our community:

£100,000

• Could enable 63 seriously ill people and their families to receive the care and support of the Shakespeare Hospice’s 'Hospice at Home' team. This will enable more people to die with dignity, in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by their loved ones.
• Could fund the entire Hospice at Home service for more than 5 months
• Could pay for 342 members of our community to access the care and services provided by our Day Hospice.

• Through our 'night sit' service, £1,000 could provide 5 members of our community with an invaluable night of respite and reassurance when caring for a seriously ill loved one
• Could pay for 8 patients to receive a visit from a member of the Hospice at Home nursing team. This service is available throughout the night, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
• Could pay for 20 patients to receive a specialist occupational therapy or physiotherapy session, helping to increase mobility, self esteem and the quality of life our both our patients and their carers
• Could pay for 25 patients or carers to benefit from the Diversional Therapy provided by The Hospice. Diversional Therapy can provide a distraction from the pain associated with a disease (or its treatment) and it can also help to relieve the stress of caring for a seriously ill loved one.

• Could provide 4 patients or carers a complementary therapy session, providing much needed relief from pain or stress
• It could also pay for 20 people to receive a specially prepared, nutritionally balanced meal at the Day Hospice. For some of our patients, this may be their only hot meal of the day.

• £10 could pay for the oils needed for 3 aromatherapy sessions while just £5 could pay for a patient to make a beautiful bird box as a keepsake for loved ones to treasure in the future.
