Police seek suspect following Bourton on the Water incident

Police in the Cotswolds want to speak to this man about a possible theft in Bourton on the Water.

The incident happened yesterday, Thursday 8 February.

At about 1.30pm a man went into a High Street store and told the assistant that his mother had left her bag in the shop earlier. The assistant went to the back of the shop and upstairs to look for the bag but it was not there.

She later found that a quantity of cash was missing from the till.

It is understood that the same man went into two other shops saying that he was looking for his mother's bag, though there are no reports of any money being missing there.

The man is described as being white, aged between 35 and 50 years old, about 6ft tall and of slim build. He was wearing a grey fleece jacket and dark trousers. He was also wearing glasses.

Officers would like to speak to the man in the photograph as they think he may be able to help clarify what happened in the shop.

He, or anyone else with information, is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 or email 101@gloucestershire.pnn.police.uk quoting incident 216 of 8 February.
