Businesses on Wellesbourne Airfield say they're devastated after being burgled.
Police were called at 3.07am on Monday 10 September to reports of a burglary at a premises at Airfield Estate on Loxley Road, Wellesbourne.
An Aston Martin and its keys were stolen from the premises, the vehicle was later recovered. Cash was also reported to have been stolen from another premises.
Enquiries are ongoing. If anyone witnessed the offence or any suspicious behaviour in the area around this time, please call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident reference 22 of 10 September 2018.
Take Flight Aviation was one of the businesses affected - they gave us this statement:
"We woke to devastating news yesterday, Monday 10th September. Take Flight and other businesses on Wellesbourne airfield had been burgled; thousands of pounds taken!!
Take Flight Aviation, South Warwickshire Flying School, Warwickshire Aviation Maintenance Hanger, FlyWelle, The Tower and Airfield Office all raided! Crowdfunding donations for Save Wellesbourne Airfield taken and an Aston Martin DB9 taken and dumped in a local wood.
The criminals were caught on CCTV; if you recognise any of these men please call the police.
An attack like this, in the midst of fighting for survival, is devastating to the businesses who are frantically fundraising to aid the court appeal to stop the closure of the airfield and the end to GA as we know it.
