Touch FM has been given details of a draft timetable for the closure of three Warwickshire Fire Stations.
Warwick Fire Station could shut in September 2011 and be the first of three to close as part of Chief Fire Officer Graeme Smith's Improvement Plan designed to improve response to flooding and car accidents.
Brinklow and Studley will also be decommissioned.
The Improvement Plan was backed by County Councillors at a meeting on July 20th. It also means the Brigade's also increasing home fire safety checks from 6,500 to 30,000 and investing in a new small fires unit. Service bosses also want to look at ways of cutting the number of automatic fire alarm call outs they're forced to attend.
Brinklow Fire Station's timetabled to shut in March 2012. At the same time Bedworth Fire Station will become a retained station with a whole time small fires unit. The closure of Studley Fire Station is not due to take place until September 2013.
Warwickshire County Council say it's only a draft timetable at the moment and could change but have promised at no point will the safety of the public or firefighters be compromised.
The Fire Brigades Union are currently deciding whether to ballot their members for industrial action - but say going on strike is a last resort.
